A very warm welcome to
our information section for junior members. Horton Kirby
Cricket Club is ClubMark accredited and is a focus club.
Our Colts are very important to the present and future
success of the club and they learn their cricketing skills
in a safe, friendly environment. Juniors are welcome from
age 5 to 17. They begin by playing Kwik Cricket with a soft
ball and may enter Super mini 8’s tournaments (Under 9).
Emphasis is on fun, developing hand eye coordination and
learning cricketing skills.
In 2011 we have entered an under 15's and two under 13's teams in the North Kent
Junior League, an under 12 team into the Harry Bright Cup
and an under 11's team in the North Kent Junior League. Our
older colts have now progressed into the senior teams. We also have a mini super
8's team (under 9). A number of our young players are also
involved with their respective district cricket teams.
When they are
considered ready, juniors can be selected to play in the
senior teams. In 2011 our under 15 colts are playing in the 1st X1 and 2nd X1 teams. They are regarded as valued
and talented members of the teams and the product of the
excellent coaching they have received at the club.
Coaching at winter nets has just started at the Leigh
Academy. Summer training starts in April 2011 at the club -
See coaching times. We are really
looking forward to welcoming new juniors to net practices
and training sessions.
If you would like to become a junior colt you can phone Dane
Bull the junior head coach (07930163232) or email d4nebull@yahoo.com for further information.
